Promulgate The Revitalization Of Manggarai Station Phase I, Jokowi Please Public Mobility Improving

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) assesses that the revitalization of Phase 1 Manggarai Station is very important. The reason is, Manggarai Station is one of the busiest stations in Indonesia.

"The Manggarai Station is one of the busiest train stations in Indonesia, which daily serves the termination of the Commuter Line KRL for Jakarta City, Tanah Abang, and Bekasi with very busy schedules and passengers," Jokowi said in an official statement, Monday, December 26.

Jokowi said, the development of Manggarai Station brings a number of benefits. Such as increasing the frequency and headway of train travel. Thus, community mobility is getting smoother.

"So as to increase the accessibility of the community from Jakarta to the buffer city (Bodetabek) and vice versa," he said.

In addition, said Jokowi, this development will add airport rail services to and from Soekarno Hatta Airport, and integrate various other modes of public transportation such as Transjakarta, online motorcycle taxis, bajay and others.

"The train has become an alternative to transportation that is urgently needed and is increasingly in demand by the public. In addition, it can reach various places more quickly and at affordable costs," said Jokowi.

On the same occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi explained, with the revitalization of Manggarai Station, it will increase about 30 percent of the capacity of the number of passengers who will transit at Manggarai Station.

"The development of Manggarai Station is part of the Manggarai-Cikarang double-double track project, with the addition of the number of routes from the original seven lanes to 14 lanes, and consists of 10 train at grade (bottom) and four elevated (gliding) train routes," said Budi.

For your information, since 2016, the government has developed Manggarai Station as one of the central stations in Jakarta. The government will continue to build and develop railway infrastructure, especially to connect densely populated areas, both with KRL commuter line, MRT, LRT, Fast Train, Airport Train, to double track or double line construction.

With mass transportation facilities that are getting better and more integrated, it is hoped that community mobility will be smoother and more efficient, and people will be more interested in using mass transportation.
