JAKARTA - The government, in this case the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is still waiting for complete data from PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) regarding the request for an extension of the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) concession time from 50 to 80 years.

The Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, explained that his party had not yet received complete data from KCIC regarding the request.

The data will be used by the Ministry of Transportation to recalculate the possibility of adding a concession period.

"Again to the FS (feasibility study) data they sent to extend it to 80 years. That is, we are waiting for the data on how many passengers they are," he told reporters when met at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 22.

In line with this, Risal said that his party was also studying KCIC's request regarding the addition of the concession period to 80 years.

"We are still studying their proposals for additional concession times. We are still collecting data on why it can still add, what is the issue of concessions," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the government had not yet decided to approve the addition of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train (KCJB) concession.

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is currently proposing an additional concession from 50 years to 80 years.

The Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, explained that the government has not taken a stance to approve or reject it.

He said the government was still in a position to examine what KCIC asked for.

"The 80-year-old concession is a reference from KCIC, the government has not yet decided. We are still in the position of reviewing what KCIC requested," he told reporters, written Tuesday, December 13.

Risal emphasized that in determining the concession, the most important thing is the age of the facility which must refer to the maximum period of time to be treated.

This means that KCIC must update its fleet when the Jakarta Bandung high-speed rail facility has run out, although the concession period has not yet been completed.

For example, continued Risal, the age of the facility is only 30 years old. Even though the concession period has not run out, the facilities must be updated.

"In our concession, it is clear that there is an age. For example, the means are only 30 years old, if the concession is still there, the facilities must be updated. The train should not be old. It must be replaced newly like the new and original conditions and operated," he explained.
