SEMARANG - A number of members of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) together with the Director of Distribution of PLN, Adi Priyanto inaugurated the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) at the PLN Office of the Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta Main Distribution Unit, Friday, December 9.

The members of Commission VII DPR RI who attended were Bambang Dwi Hartono, Dyah Roro Esti, HM Gandung Pardiman, Hendrik H. Sitompul, and Bambang Hermanto.

Member of Commission VII DPR RI Bambang Dwi Hartono at the inauguration said the DPR continues to support efforts to present SPKLU to support the electric vehicle ecosystem.

This is part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"PLN continues to increase the number of SPKLU for Electric Vehicle (EV), if there are currently 12 SPKLU units in 10 scattered locations in Central Java, in the near future 9 units will be added. In the future, the number must be proposed and added again, and we must support it," said Bambang in a written statement, Tuesday, December 13.

Currently, the number of SPKLUs spread throughout Indonesia reaches 569 machines spread across 237 locations.

On the same occasion, Member of Commission VII Dyah Roro Esti stated, based on COP27 or the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, Indonesia has increased the target of reducing emissions from the previous 29 percent to 31 percent in 2030.

"One of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions is the emissions caused by transportation equipment. Therefore, we at Commission VII strongly support PLN's efforts to grow the electric vehicle ecosystem," said Dyah.

Meanwhile, the Director of Distribution of PLN Adi Priyanto said that the development of electric vehicles provides great benefits to the state.

The development of electric vehicles is one of the strategies to help the government reduce the burden of importing fuel and carbon emissions.

"In addition to helping the government reduce fuel imports, of course what is more important is to reduce carbon emissions, because protecting this earth is our common task. Therefore, let's accelerate the electric vehicle ecosystem, changing from the mode of transportation using the combustion engine (BBM) method to electric vehicles," he said.

To increase the distribution of SPKLU and Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU), PLN also opens opportunities for cooperation with franchise schemes to all parties.

"The electrical vehicle ecosystem must be built in collaboration. For that, we open up opportunities for all parties. And we are sure, this cooperation scheme will make SPKLU and SPBKLU grow like fungi in the rainy season," concluded Adi.
