GORONTALO - Perum Bulog Sub Division Regional (Divre) Gorontalo will add 1,000 tons of rice from South Sulawesi for rice stocks in Gorontalo Province.

"Currently, our rice stock is around 300 tons in three warehouses, namely Bongo, Talumolo and Marisa," said Head of Gorontalo Bulog Munafri Syamsudin as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 12.

He said the supply of 300 tons of rice was sufficient for needs until January 2023 or could meet the needs of community rice during Christmas and New Year.

He revealed that with the arrival of 1,000 tons of rice, it would increase the availability of Bulog rice for the next three months.

"I have made a request to South Sulawesi to add 1,000 tons, God willing, when 1,000 tons enter, the stock strength in Bulog is 1,300 tons, meaning it could be up to the next three months," he said.

Munafri ensured that Bulog's stock was sufficient until April 2023 and could be added with stocks from several mills because it would soon enter the harvest period.

He asked the public not to worry that rice and a number of commodities in Gorontalo Province would be rare during Christmas and New Year.

Bulog Gorontalo also has other food reserves, including sugar, eggs, and packaged cooking oil, which his party cooperates with local governments through low-cost markets.

"The price of these three commodities varies from what we release to merchant partners and retailers both in shops, kiosks and others, specifically for medium rice of Rp. 8,300 per kg," he said.

Sugar is sold at the highest retail price (HET), which is IDR 13,500 per kg and cooking oil IDR 14,000 per liter.
