KPK Reveals Maria Lestari's Figure When Determining Hasto As A Suspect In The Harun Masiku Case, Who Is He?

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) alluded to Maria Lestari's name in the vortex of the alleged bribery case of Harun Masiku which also dragged the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto.

In Hasto's announcement as a suspect, the KPK named Maria, who is a candidate for the 2024 General Election (dapil) I West Kalimantan. Maria is said to be one of the legislative candidates that Hasto asked to be passed by the KPU with Harun.

Then, what is Maria's role in this case? KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto admitted that his party was still investigating this matter.

"Investigators are still investigating ( Maria's involvement)," Tessa told reporters, Friday, December 27.

Tessa said Maria had never been questioned by the KPK regarding the interim replacement bribery (PAW) case Harun Masiku which dragged Hasto. Tessa also doesn't know if Maria will be summoned in the development of this case.

"There is no information from the investigator yet," he said.

In this regard, the KPK previously mentioned that there were allegations of a similar mode of Harun Masiku, who tried to be released in the PAW of the South Sumatra electoral district, also occurred in other electoral districts.

The alleged bribery mode for PAW members of the Indonesian House of Representatives emerged after the anti-corruption commission examined the former PDIP candidate in the 2019 Legislative Election, Alexius Akim on Monday, August 5. At that time, investigators questioned him about the mode of giving bribes to occupy legislative positions in parliament.

Meanwhile, after being questioned, Alexius did not want to talk much about what investigators were investigating. He admitted that he was only asked about his candidacy in the 2019 Legislative Election. Alexsius contested the first electoral district of West Kalimantan, where Maria was asked to win by Hasto.

"What is clear is that I should have been inaugurated but I was dismissed," he said after undergoing an examination at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

The KPK has named Hasto as a suspect in the bribery case against former KPU RI Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan who also dragged Harun Masiku. In his determination as a suspect, Hasto is said to be actively involved in the bribery case process to former KPU RI Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to take care of the PAW Harun and Maria process.

"HK met Wahyu Setiawan to and asked to fulfill the two proposals submitted by the DPP, namely Maria Lestari Dapil I West Kalimantan and Harun Masiku Dapil I South Sumatra," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto, Tuesday, December 24.

In addition, Hasto is also suspected of obstructing efforts to investigate the KPK to explore the bribery process against Wahyu. Hasto is said to have instructed Harun to submerge his cellphone and run away during the KPK's arrest operation (OTT).
