Why Is The Price Of Shell's BBM Mahal?

YOGYAKARTA The price of fuel oil (BBM) at the Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) managed by Shell increased in early December 2022. For the type of super shell or the equivalent of Pertamax (RON 92), for example, priced at Rp. 14,180 per liter or an increase of Rp. 630 per liter.

This increase makes the price of Shell fuel more expensive than that sold by PT Pertamina.

For your information, PT Pertamina also made adjustments to the price of non-subsidized fuel on December 1, 2022.

Quoted from Pertamina's official website, the price of Pertamax Turbo throughout Java is at the level of Rp. 15,200 per liter, an increase of Rp. 900 per liter.

The price of Dexlite increased by IDR 300 per liter to IDR 18,300 per liter from the previous IDR 18,000. Then, the price of Pertamina Dex increased by IDR 250 per liter to IDR 18,800 from the previous IDR 18,550.

Despite increasing fuel prices, the fuel oil sold at Pertamina gas stations is still cheaper than the price of Shell fuel.

Deputy Country Chair and Vice President of Corporate Relations of Shell Indonesia Susi Hutapea stated that her party has adjusted prices from time to time by considering various factors.

These include adjustments including processed oil products based on the Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS), market conditions and volatility, foreign currency exchange rates, government taxes and customs.

"We also consider the cost of distribution and operational costs, the company's performance and ongoing promotional activities. We will adjust the price, according to the applicable Government Regulation regarding the selling price of fuel," he said, quoted by VOI from Antara, Monday, December 5, 2022.
