Most Of SAMS Sepinggan Airport, The Number Of Air Transport Passengers In East Kalimantan Rose 71.8 Percent To 1.68 Million

SAMARINDA - The number of domestic air transport passengers in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) for the January-October 2022 period reached 1,687,930 people. That number increased 71.8 percent compared to January-October 2021, which recorded 982,471 people.

"Passengers come from six airports in six regencies and cities, namely Samarinda, Balikpapan, Bontang, Berau, West Kutai, and Mahakam Ulu," said Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Kalimantan Province, Yusniar Juliana, quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 4.

The increase occurred because this year's COVID-19 cases had continued to decline since last January, so the government gave concessions to people who wanted to go outside the region, both those using sea, land, and air transportation vehicles.

Meanwhile, the details of the number of passengers as many as 1,687,930 people were 1,295,661 passengers departing from Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport (SAMS) Sepinggan Balikpapan.

This number has increased quite significantly to reach 87.76 percent compared to the January-October 2021 period which recorded 690,064 passengers.

Especially for October 2022, he continued, there were 139,826 passengers departing from Balikpapan, an increase of 4.07 percent compared to the previous month which was 134,359 passengers.

He continued, for domestic passengers departing from Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Airport (APT) Pranoto Samarinda January-October 2022 as many as 294,269 people, up 47.32 percent compared to January-October 2021 which recorded 199,747 people.

Then from Kalimarau Airport, Berau Regency, January-October 2022, as many as 90,061 passengers, there was an increase of 1.67 percent compared to the previous period which recorded 88,579 passengers.

Furthermore, there were 4,893 passengers departing from Badak Bontang Airport in January-October 2022, there was a fairly high increase of up to 238.38 percent compared to January-October 2021, which recorded 1,446 passengers.

Passengers from Melalan Airport, West Kutai, in January-October 2022 as many as 1,596 people, an increase of 27.37 percent compared to the previous period which recorded 1,253 passengers.

"For passengers departing from Dah Dawai Airport, Mahakam Ulu Regency, in January-October 2022 there were 1,450 people, an increase of 4.92 percent compared to the previous period which recorded 1,382 passengers," he said.
