JAKARTA - The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank is said to have succeeded in facilitating the MSME-scale chocolate producer from Bali, namely Mason Chocolate, to be able to market its products to foreign markets.

LPEI Executive Director Riyani Tirtoso said that his party as a special mission vehicle (SMV) of the Ministry of Finance is always committed to encouraging MSME players to advance to become global competitive exporters.

"In addition to focusing on increasing the capacity and competence of business actors, we are also trying to build a solid export ecosystem through the support provided to the MSME sector which is part of the supply chain for LPEI fostered exporters," he said in a written statement quoted on Sunday, November 20.

According to Riyani, until now Mason Chocolate has succeeded in exporting its products to various countries, including France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Australia with a production capacity of 15 tons per year.

"This success certainly cannot be separated from the role of cocoa farmers in Jembrana Cocoa Foreign Exchange Village who collaborated with Mason Chocolate in providing a supply of fermented cocoa beans to be processed into brown products," he said.

Riyani explained, Nusasari Village in Jembrana Regency, Bali was the first foreign exchange village to receive assistance from LPEI since 2012. This village is known to have good cocoa quality and has been one of the world's best fermented cocoa beans producers according to the 2017 cocoa of excellence version.

Meanwhile, the LPEI Foreign Exchange Village Program is a continuously encouraged program to realize more villages that have superior export-oriented products.

"As a government-owned institution, we will continue to assist and provide training to villages that have superior export-oriented products. This is a form of our commitment to continue to encourage villages to be independent and able to compete so that they can meet the quality and quantity that is in accordance with export standards and can have an impact on the welfare of the surrounding community," he said.

On the same occasion, Corporate Executive Chef Mason Chocolate Tiwi revealed that the efforts made participated in increasing the economic value of the community through collaboration with local residents to cultivate cocoa plantations.

"In addition to improving the welfare of the community, with this collaboration we also provide opportunities for women to participate in building the Mason Chocolate business. Until now, more than 60 percent of our workforce is women," he said.

He also thanked LPEI for being given the opportunity to introduce the product and story behind Mason Chocolate's trip to the G20 delegation in Bali.

"Thank you for the opportunity to join this activity. The coordination is very good and really helps us to introduce our products. Hopefully, we can work together again on another occasion," he concluded.
