JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia expressed Indonesia's commitment to building environmentally friendly industries with New Renewable Energy (EBT) as a form of Indonesia's contribution to the global world to reduce greenhouse emissions. He supports the initiative to build a net zero industrial area in Central Sulawesi, through collaboration between PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) and the Envision AESC Group.
PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) and Envision AESC Group signed the Head of Agreement (HoA) in the middle of the United Kingdom (UK)-Indonesia BusinessLunch activity in Bali, on Sunday, November 13 yesterday.
The signing of this HoA is the starting point for the cooperation between the two companies to start an initiative to identify opportunities for the Net Zero Industrial Estate project in Indonesia.
This collaboration is said to have the potential to build the first Net Zero Industrial Estate in Central Sulawesi, including green battery materials to serve the global market, develop green energy plants, and deploy and take advantage of the comprehensive digital Net Zero solution from Environment Digital.
"The Ministry of Investment fully supports the development of the Net Zero Industrial Estate. What needs to be emphasized is that this project must cooperate with local entrepreneurs in the regions so that the economic impact and added value are immediately felt," Bahlil said in his official statement, Monday, November 14.
Bahlil said that the Indonesian government is committed to achieving the net zero emission target and this requires concrete efforts, both from the government and business actors. He also supports the development project of the Net Zero Industrial Estate in Indonesia which is in line with the Indonesian government's green energy program.
He also emphasized that the cooperation between the two countries was a follow-up to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia and British Investment Minister Lord Dominic Johnson last October in London, England.
Nevertheless, Bahlil said the most important thing about cooperation is how to realize the things that have been mutually agreed upon to carry out mutually beneficial collaborations for the two countries.
"Britain has sufficient technology and capital, Indonesia has abundant natural resources and a strategic global geopolitical position. It is important for us to collaborate by utilizing the potential of each country. It is just a matter of how we improve that cooperation," he said.
For information, the signing of this HoA is the result of a follow-up to the previously signed cooperation on the Minister of Investment's working visit to London last October. The collaboration between VKTR, a subsidiary of BNBR which focuses on electric vehicle battery technology (EV Battery) with Envision AESC is expected to be able to create a competitive and diverse global supply chain.
BNBR, through its subsidiary, is interested in developing integrated electrical transportation and the EV Battery ecosystem in Indonesia which includes batteries, electric vehicles (buses, cars, and motorcycles), EV infrastructure, and battery recycling.
Meanwhile, Envision AESC Group as a leading battery technology company that utilizes Artificial Intelligence of Things (AioT)-based innovations in battery technology and various cross-disciplinary applications, plans to build or convert existing manufacturing locations into Net Zero Industrial Zones.
