JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah said that her party had prepared several policies to deal with the threat of a global recession which is predicted to occur in 2023 which could have an impact on the employment side. Some of these policies are adaptive, resilient, and inclusive, which includes five pillars.

"Even though I said earlier, we are still optimistic, but still we need to strategy and prepare steps to deal with global conditions," said Ida during a working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR RI, Tuesday, November 8.

The five pillars include education reform and vocational training, optimization of information systems and job market services, expansion of job opportunities, adaptive social security and employment protection, and harmonious industrial relations.

Ida said that in the future the global economic recession will have an impact on the economy in many countries, including in Indonesia.

Even so, Ida said the economy in Indonesia is expected to continue to grow positively, while the number of workers affected by COVID-19 is reduced.

"Working-age residents affected by COVID-19 in August 2022 fell very significantly to 4.15 million," he said.

This, said Ida, is good news to build Indonesia's optimism in dealing with recession, while the government is also preparing an adaptive, resilient, and inclusive employment policy scenario.

"The global economic recession is not only experienced by developed countries, but also developing countries, including Indonesia. We must be grateful that the Indonesian economy is expected to continue to grow positively compared to during the pandemic. I think this is good news to build our optimism," he said.
