JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) confirmed that the core inflation rate continued to increase to 3.31 percent year on year (yoy) in October 2022.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS Setianto, said the level was higher when compared to September 2022 which was 3.21 percent.

"This core inflation contributes 2.18 percent to inflation in general (based on the consumer/CP price index)," he said when answering questions from the media crew on Tuesday, November 1.

Setianto explained several commodities that caused the rise of core inflation in October, including house rentals, cars, and home contracts based on annual studies.

"Meanwhile, the increase in core inflation month to month (monthly) is contributed by the cost of repairrs, rice and side dishes, as well as higher education costs," he said.

For information, IHK inflation in October decreased to 5.71 percent yoy. This figure is more gentle than the September book which amounted to 5.95 percent.

In addition to core inflation, the record for IHK inflation last month was also contributed by price inflation regulated by the government (administered price) of 2.35 percent and volatile price inflation in the food sector (volatile food) of 1.18 percent.
