Not Suitable To Be In The Middle Of City, Pulogadung Industrial Estate Will Move To Patimban

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir plans to move the Pulogadung industrial area to the Patimban area, Subang, West Java. The reason, said Erick, is because industrial areas should not be in the middle of the city.

According to Erick, this plan could be a way out to fix the Industrial Estate, especially around DKI Jakarta. Then, he said, it also has the potential to increase the role of Patimban and Kertajati in West Java.

For your information, the Pulogadung industrial area is currently managed by PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP). The shares are owned by PT Danareksa (Persero) and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta with a portion of 50 percent each.

"So the industrial area is no longer suitable in the middle of the city, added pollution, had to move, it also became a green factory in Subang, why? Kertajati has been prioritized for cargo, there is also a Patimban, there is a toll road, now that," he told reporters at the BUMN Ministry Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 19.

Erick also repeatedly said that there needs to be maximum support to build an industrial ecosystem in the Patimban area. According to him, with Kertajati airport focusing on cargo services, it becomes a good asset related to the industrial ecosystem.

Moreover, continued Erick, it is also supported by toll access, and is close to the Patimban Port which is predicted to be a more serious logistics service port. It is hoped that it will be able to become an additional force for the domestic industry.

"There is Patimban, there is Kertajati, there is a fast train, there is a freight train, there is a toll road, what does that mean? It must be an ecosystem, so I encourage a new industrial area in Subang," he explained.

Meanwhile, PJ Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that his party would redesign the Pulogadung area. Heru said, the plan is for the area to be made more contemporary.

"This is a shared asset example, PT JIEP ya, Pulogadung, nanti kita redesign itu jadi kawasan baru miliknya Kementerian BUMN akan pindah ke kota luar Jakarta, kami merencanakan tata ruang sesuai dengan keinginan terkini dari Kementerian BUMN tentunya yang sudah adaptasi dengan keinginan desainan pagota. Itu potensi srategis yang perlu dijalankan juga," ucap Heru.
