JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) through its subsidiary which is engaged in marine logistics, namely PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), signed a business collaboration agreement or basic agreement with Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). This business collaboration includes various important points Shareholders Agreement (SHA) and Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA) related to investment potential.

"This agreement is in accordance with our aspiration to become an Asian Leading Integrated Marine Logistics Company," said Pertamina's Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development (SPPU) Salyadi Saputra in a statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 18.

PIS President Director Yoki Firnandi said the selection of NYK as a partner was based on the consideration of NYK's big name as the second position in the world in terms of gas transport owners.

NYK welcomes cooperation with PIS and is expected to cover many business sectors related to energy ranging from the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLC), Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), offshore businesses such as the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), new renewable energy and fuel, even to the use of technology to reduce emissions and the application of CCS/CCUS.
