BI Optimistic Economic Growth Quarter III Can Be 5.5 Percent, What's The Secret?

JAKARTA - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo stated that economic growth in the third quarter of this year could achieve better results compared to the previous quarter.

"Our economic growth in the third quarter of 2022 is estimated to be 5.5 percent (year on year/yoy) even higher than that," he said before joining the G20 agenda in Washington DC, USA on Wednesday, October 12 local time.

According to Perry, this optimism is reflected in several things, especially those related to domestic factors.

"This is driven by public consumption, mobility that has recovered and also the inflation rate. Even though our inflation has increased, it tends not to be too high," he said.

Perry also said that maintaining purchasing power remains a strategic lever for the national economy.

"Obviously this strong purchasing power is still pushing for our economic growth," he said.

According to VOI records, the inflation book in the first quarter of 2022 was 5.01 percent. The score increased to 5.44 percent in the second quarter.

The government itself targets the target to achieve economic growth above 5 percent so far this year.

"Next year (2023) we estimate the economy can grow 4.6 percent to 5.3 percent. Compared to the world, which next year is only 2.8 percent according to the IMF. Bank Indonesia itself estimates that the world's economic growth will only be around 2.6 percent," concluded BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.
