Encourage The Use Of Electric Vehicles, Ridwan Kamil: Save IDR 4 Million Per Year

JAKARTA - The Governor of West Java as well as the Chair of the Association of Renewable Oil and Energy Reducing Regionals (Adpment), Ridwan Kamil said, the use of electric cars is much more efficient than oil-fueled vehicles (BBM) that have been used by the public.

Based on the comparison trial of the energy costs of electric vehicles and fuel vehicles, said Ridwan, the results for the 100 kilometer (KM) distance will cost Rp. 23,375. Meanwhile, fuel vehicles cost Rp. 107,500.

Emil, Ridwan Kamil's nickname, said the figure was calculated by using electricity costs at home of Rp. 1,699.53 kWh and Pertalite type fuel of Rp. 10,000 per liter. This means that the use of electric vehicles is almost five times more efficient.

"I have the testimony of a father who usually spends money every day accompanying children back and forth every day, their children go to school, after that they go to work, uses electric vehicles he saves and is multiplied by Rp. 4 million a year. So that the Rp. 4 million per year can make various things," he said at the Oil and Gas SKK Gathering, at the Holiday Inn Hotel Bandung, Monday, October 3.

With the savings obtained, Emil hopes that people can immediately switch to using electric vehicles. Considering that apart from being clean, it also saves money.

"Using an electric vehicle is the same as saving a fifth of the vehicle's costs," he said.

Not only that, Emil also encourages that the program for converting fuel vehicles to electric vehicles can be increased. So there is no need to buy new vehicles.

"Don't just promote new electric vehicles. So there are two who can afford to buy new cars, buy new ones. Those who can't afford it, just convert the motorbike, it usually becomes electric," he explained.

To support the smooth conversion of fuel vehicles to electricity, Emil admitted that he was training workshops in West Java to be able to convert fuel vehicles to electricity. Especially considering the potential for job opening.

"What are the challenges now? We are training the workshops so that we can accept changes to the duck motorbike, which used gasoline, has begun to be converted into an electric motorcycle," he said.
