JAKARTA - In an effort to support the Indonesian government to reduce plastic waste, PT Amerta Indah Otsuka launched the Otsuka Blue Planet program as a commitment to provide education in order to increase public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment by focusing its activities on three important sectors, namely Otsuka Eco Village, Otsuka Blue School, and Otsuka Eco Bottle. A series of public education is carried out together with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia in order to create people who are able to manage sustainable waste properly and correctly independently. Laibun Sobri as Corporate Communication Manager of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka said that until now the accumulation of waste in final disposal is caused by a lack of public awareness in sorting recyclable waste, this encourages Otsuka to create an Otsuka Blue Planet educational program that aims to help change people's behavior in order to manage waste independently. Otsuka Blue Planet organized by PT Amerta Indah Otsuka in an effort to support the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to reduce waste, focusing on three main activities, namely Otsuka Eco Village, Otsuka Blue School and Otsuka Eco Bottle. Otsuka Eco Village, which has been implemented since 2021, was created to encourage the creation of people who are able to manage waste independently and this is a tangible form of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka's support for people in the Cicurug, Sukabumi, West Java and Kejaayan factories, Pasuruan, East Java. Furthermore, Otsuka Blue School, which started in June 2022, has been successfully implemented in two high schools, namely SMA Budi Mulia Ciledug Tangerang and SMA Regina Pacis Jakarta. This activity is a program carried out at the high school level, where this program helps students, teachers and school employees to be able to manage sustainable waste, especially plastic bottles properly and correctly so that it can become a new habit that will continue into adulthood and become an agent of change for the environment. The seriousness of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka in reducing plastic waste is increasingly evident by the creation of the Otsuka Eco Bottle program, namely efforts to make plastic bottle packaging with recycled material. Today, the first shipment of plastic bottles with a composition of 30 percent made from recycled materials, which is planned to be gradually increased to reach 100 percent composition by 2030. "We realize that to reduce plastic waste is greatly influenced by efforts and positive contributions from the community as well as other sectors such as the private sector, so we really appreciate PT Amerta Indah Otsuka who is trying to provide guidance for schools and communities in managing the environment through Otsuka Blue Planet," said Ade Palguna, Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry & Human Resource Development Agency, Tuesday, September 27. "With the Otsuka Blue Planet program, we hope to help change people's behavior to care more about the environment by starting to manage waste and disposing of waste in its place," concluded Laibun Sobri.
