JAKARTA - The Ministry of SOEs noted that there are 336 start-ups that have received funding from the venture capital (Venture Capital) owned by state-owned companies. This is in line with efforts to establish a digital ecosystem of plate companies to support economic growth.

The venture capital companies are Mandiri Capital, BRI Ventures, MDI Ventures, Telkomsel Mitra Innovation, and BNI Ventures.

SOE Minister Erick Thohir said the 336 startups were originally Sunnycorn (soon to be unicorn), which is now transitioning to Unicorn. This was conveyed by Erick to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the opening of SOE Startup Day 2022.

"If you remember from the start, SOEs already have Telkom, there is Telkomsel, and lastly, I also asked BNI to make Venture Capital, which is below having invested in 336 startups, which if viewed today, many have also started to become unicorns, Mr. Erick said, Tuesday, September 26.

Erick said that the Ministry of SOEs had indeed accommodated start-up companies through the Merah Putih Fund which the President had inaugurated some time ago. He ensured that the Red and White Fund funding was focused on Sunnycorn to become a unicorn.

For your information, the Merah Putih Fund is an initiative from the Ministry of SOEs to support the acceleration of local startups that have the potential to become Unicorns, through business and capital collaboration. In addition, it also builds synergy of potential digital solutions in various sectors.

Furthermore, Erick said that the startup Sunnycorn, which received an injection of funds from the Merah Putih Fund and became a Unicorn, must operate in Indonesia, the owner is an Indonesian citizen, and can register his shares in the Indonesian capital market.

Erick said that his party will support them so that they can be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), which is expected to attract interest from the global investor community.

"Therefore, our Red and White Fund is here, we enter into investment, there but with the founder's record of Indonesians, the company must operate in Indonesia, and pay taxes in Indonesia, and of course it is prioritized to go public in Indonesia," he explained.
