JAKARTA - PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JPFA) gave news that President Director Handojo Santosa died on Sunday, September 25 yesterday. Handojo Santosa on Japfa's official website is a citizen of Cyprus who lives in Singapore. He died at the age of 58 years. In 1997, he was appointed as President Director, based on the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. Handojo Santosa is responsible for leading all strategic and operational activities of Japfa. Handojo Santosa joined Japfa in 1986 as manager at the Nabati Oil Division in Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, in charge of daily operational activities in the division. From 1989 to 1997, Handojo Santosa served as Deputy President Director of Japfa. Handojo Santosa is the majority owner of Japfa registered in Singapore, which indirectly runs the food business. This gas company produces staple food protein, milk, and packaged food. Japfa sells fresh milk in Indonesia under the Greenfields brand. The private equity company KKR owns 10 percent of the shares in Japfa Comfeed. In July 2020 Japfa sold 25 percent of the shares in China's dairy product unit AustAsia Investments worth 254 million US dollars to Japanese milk giant Meiji. Handojo's father, the late tycoon Ferry Teguh Santosa, founded a diverse Ometra group in Indonesia in 1959. This group went bankrupt during the 1997 financial crisis. Handojo, who focused on Japfa Comfeed, managed to survive during the crisis. In 2014, he listed Japfa's shares in Singapore, making Japfa Comfeed in Indonesia a subsidiary. Handojo Santosa has a fortune of US$735 million or around Rp11 trillion in 2020, making him the 38th richest person in Indonesia.
