The Increase In Fuel Prices Is Considered Not To Have A Significant Impact On Inflation In Cirebon

CIREBON - The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Cirebon Regency, West Java, Hilmi Rivai, said that the increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM) had no significant impact on inflation.

"The impact of economic inflation does exist, but it is not too significant," said Hilmi as quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 22.

Hilmi said inflation in Cirebon Regency is still below the National, and West Java, where inflation in the area is at 4 percent.

In fact, continued Hilmi, for matters of food security in Cirebon Regency, because in recent years, especially rice in the area, there has been a fairly large surplus.

"Our food security is maintained, especially in Cirebon Regency which often experiences a surplus," he said.

Hilmi said, to control inflation, his party also distributes social safety nets, namely through direct cash assistance (BLT), both sourced from the Central Government and regional governments.

The assistance, said Hilmi, is expected to increase people's purchasing power and reduce inflation, which is predicted to rise in line with the fuel price adjustment.

"We have distributed BLT both from the Central and Regional Governments," he said.
