JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) continues to support the implementation of sustainability practices within the scope of corporations in the country, one of which is through the issuance of green investment guidelines or sustainable investments.

"Kadin supports capacity building, we are preparing guidelines called guidelines for green investment, sustainable investment. This guide can also help companies to enter sustainable investments," said Deputy Chairperson of the Coordinator for Maritime Affairs, Investment, and Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shinta W. Kamdani at a press conference Road to B20 Sustainability 4.0 Awards quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 20.

Shinta said the guideline was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment/BKPM.

He also said that the B20 Sustainability 4.0 Awards would be a good start to encourage sustainable practices in the business world in Indonesia.

The B20 Sustainability 4.0 Awards itself were initiated by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce Indonesia, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and the European Business Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (EuroCham), Britcham, Economics, IBAI, IFCCI and Trisakti University as part events B20 Indonesia 2022.

This award is expected to increase awareness of environmental sustainability by identifying and recognizing sustainability projects that have a high impact from private businesses in Indonesia.

Awards focus on clean water, reducing plastic and recycling, the role of Indonesian women in the environment as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"We don't want this to just be an ordinary reward, but there must be a follow-up to how we encourage more business actors to prioritize the issue of sustainability," added Shinta, who is also Chair B20.

Shinta also assesses that currently many companies, including MSMEs, have made innovations to support sustainability practices.

This can also be seen from the high interest of B20 award registrant Sustainability 4.0 Awards which were flooded with up to 700 registrants.

"This gives a new encouragement because it turns out that there are a lot of companies that we don't know about, including MSMEs, which turns out to have carried out these innovations," he said.

Previously, a member of the Katadata Expert Panel Team Insight Center, Mulya Amri, assessed that in recent times more and more companies have been encouraged to build positive reputation by applying sustainability principles in the company's business strategy.

Especially in the midst of the climate crisis and increasing consumer demands, companies are required to take responsibility for running company operations that have a good impact on the environment and social.
