This Is A Strategy Of Trade Minister Zulhas To Keep Chicken Price Stability

JAKARTA - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan is committed to maintaining the stability of the price of live broiler (livebird) which is currently experiencing a decline at the farmer level. Based on information from breeders, the price reduction reached Rp. 15,000 to Rp. 16,000 per kg.

Furthermore, Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly called, said that the price of chickens at the farmer level is below the main production price (HPP).

To anticipate this, said Zulhas, the Ministry of Trade together with the National Food Agency (Banas) held a coordination meeting with representatives of SOEs and in-depth poultry farming business actors at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, last Monday.

"The Ministry of Trade is coordinating and collaborating with Baganas to create a conducive broiler gas ecosystem, especially for micro and small scale farmers," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, September 14.

In the long term, Zulhas continued, it is hoped that the business ecosystem that was formed will have a positive impact on all business actors in every sector in the manufacturing industry as well as the general public as consumers.

Zulhas said, a number of efforts have been made by the Ministry of Trade to maintain reasonable price stability for livebird at the farmer level. One of them is by encouraging food SOEs to get a proportional allocation of imports of broiler chicken (grand parent stock/GPS).

Furthermore, said Zulhas, so that it becomes an instrument for stabilizing the price of broiler seeds (day old chicken/DOC) which is one of the components of the production input that contributes greatly to the farmer's cellphone.

"It is hoped that this proportional allocation for farmers can more easily gain access to DOC at affordable prices. In addition, the Ministry of Trade also asks integrated gas companies to support the government in maintaining stability, both livebird prices and production inputs, such as broiler and feed seedlings," he said.

Zulhas also hopes that the synergy and commitment of all relevant stakeholders can maintain the stability of livebird prices at the farmer level at a reasonable price.

"The maintained price stability of livebird will have an impact on achieving a conducive ecosystem of the broiler industry, both for farmers, integrated companies, and for the public as consumers," he concluded.
