Not Satisfied, The Ojol Association Asks For App Rentsto Go Again To 10 Percent

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has officially lowered the application rental cut to 15 percent from the previous 20 percent.

However, this decision was rejected by a number of online motorcycle taxi driver associations or Ojol.

They assessed that the rental fee for the application was still too high and asked to be lowered again to 10 percent.

Chairman of the Indonesian Garda Online Drivers Association, Igun Wicaksono, asked for a discount on the rental of the application that was charged to an online motorcycle taxi driver by an applicator company of a maximum of 10 percent.

"We from the association agree with our colleagues from all over Indonesia by a maximum of 10 percent," he said, in Jakarta, Friday, September 9.

Igun said, his party has also expressed their aspirations regarding the application rental discount to the Ministry of Transportation during an online meeting on September 6.

However, the Ministry of Transportation did not accommodate the request and determined the application rental discount to ojol partners by 15 percent.

This provision is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KP 667 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for Calculation of Services Fees for the Use of Motorcycles that Are Used for Public Interests Implemented with Applications signed on September 7, 2022.

Furthermore, Igun said, the rental cut for the application was still too high.

He was also worried that this would have an impact on driver's income.

In addition, according to him, another reason for the request to reduce the application rental cut by a maximum of 10 percent is so that passengers are maintained their ability to pay ojol.

"The maximum cost of renting an application of 10 percent must be included in the KP so that it can be carried out by all application companies," he said.

To voice this request, ojol drivers who are members of the Association of Indonesian Garda Online Ojek Drivers, Indonesian Online Ojek Driver Organization, Ojek Online Driver Alliance from Laskar Malari, Patra Indonesia and the All-Indonesian Online Society (MOSI), held a demonstration today.

The demonstration will be centered at the Merdeka Palace. This action will also be attended by 5,000 ojol drivers from Sumatra, Greater Jakarta and Java in addition to Jabodetabek.

Igun said that the act of conveying this aspiration was addressed to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This is because the voices of ojol drivers are not heard by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

"We will convey our objection directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Because many times we have sued the Ministry of Transportation, but it turns out that it is not heeded," he said.
