Spending This Year's Inventory, Vivo Makes Sure Not To Sell RON89 Fuel Again In 2023

JAKARTA - PT Vivo Energy Indonesia announced that starting in 2023 it will no longer sell Revvo 89 type of fuel oil (BBM). For this reason, the company will use up the current inventory of Revvo 89.

Through its official statement, the management wrote, to comply with the Government's policy, Vivo Energy Indonesia has taken the necessary steps to deplete the Revvo 89 inventory by the end of this year.

"The government has decided to abolish the sale of low-octane fuel on December 31, 2022", Vivo management wrote in an official statement quoted Tuesday, September 6.

Meanwhile, regarding the management's decision to increase the price of Revvo 89, which was previously priced at IDR 8,900 to IDR 10,800 per liter, management said that the price increase was due to Revvo 89 being an unsubsidized fuel product, so that price changes to adjust to international fuel conditions were still volatile.

"The selling price is determined by international fuel prices as well as local regulations regarding the maximum selling price formula", the management wrote in an official statement on Tuesday, September 6.

The price change is a commercial decision to comply with regulations and market changes.

Previously, the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ordered Vivo to increase the price.

However, it is known that the statement was directly denied by the Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Tutuka Ariadji, who emphasized that the government did not intervene in determining the price of the type of fuel for public oil (JBU), including fuel sold by PT Vivo Energy Indonesia.

Tutuka said this was by Presidential Regulation Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Provision, Distribution, and Retail Selling Price of fuel, which was amended last time by Presidential Regulation Number 117 of 2021.

According to the regulation, the government has determined three types of fuel oil (BBM) circulating in the community, namely the first is a certain type of fuel (JBT) or fuel that receives subsidies and compensation, namely kerosene and diesel.

The second type is the special type of fuel assignment (JBKP), namely fuel that does not receive subsidies but receives compensation, namely RON 90 gasoline. Finally, the type of general fuel (JBU) is fuel outside JBT and JBKP.

"Of the three types of fuel, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has set a retail selling price (HJE) for certain types of fuel and special types of fuel for assignments. Meanwhile, the HJE type of fuel is generally calculated and determined by business entities", explained Tutuka in his official statement, Monday, September 5.
