Pertalite Fuel Prices Will Still Rise Even Though World Oil Is Down

JAKARTA - Energy Observer from the Reformer Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro assessed, the government still has time to finalize its policy plan to increase the price of non-subsidized fuel, amid fluctuations in the world's crude oil prices moving down.

"In the principle of public policy, conceptually it must be mature first, then it is conveyed to the public," said Komaidi, Thursday, September 1.

Komaidi said the world's oil prices are currently moving down, so that both Pertamina and the private fuel provider also lower prices.

In fact, on many different occasions, the government continues to say the energy subsidy burden is too heavy, so it is necessary to increase prices.

"Now, the price momentum is down, it's a bit difficult to find the right time (timum). The right momentum is when, if the price of fuel does not exist, because in any period it is rejected. So it depends on the courage of the government," explained Komaidi.

"If it is believed to be true, please do it. And it is necessary to realize that the government, there is no policy that will satisfy all parties," he added

It is known that President Joko Widodo has distributed BLT in Jayapura. He said the total recipients of BLT for the transfer of fuel subsidies in Indonesia reached 20.6 million people.

Although it has not officially increased the price of fuel oil, the President hopes that the distribution of BLT can improve public consumption.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto once said that the price of fuel would not be increased in Kakrtal III this year.
