Trade Minister Zulhas Asked To Solve The Chicken Price Problem Less Than 2 Weeks

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives Andre Rosiade asked the Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan to resolve the problem of the price of broiler eggs in less than two weeks.

Andre said that many people were burdened by the increase in egg prices, including small business actors.

This was conveyed by Andre Rosiade in the Commission VI Working Meeting with the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and his staff on Tuesday, August 30.

"I ask for the egg business to be accelerated. Not for two weeks because in various media I read that warteg traders have shouted, (the price of eggs) is already Rp. 33,000, Mr. Minister, especially in Papua, he said it was Rp. 40,000," Andre said, quoted Wednesday, August 31.

Andre also demanded a solution that must be issued by the Ministry of Trade to overcome the high price of eggs. One way, said Andre, can synergize with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to deploy Food SOEs to carry out market operations.

"So there must be a quick solution. Maybe the Minister can also empower our food SOEs to carry out market operations or something, but of course we please the Minister who makes the policy," he said.

"Once again, we in Commission 6 ask the Minister to take quick steps. Do not let consumers, the people scream because the price of eggs is too expensive. But of course we must also pay attention to the fate of farmers so that these farmers do not lose their prices," he continued.

Previously, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said the price of broiler eggs had increased significantly.

He said, as of August 26, the price of broiler eggs rose to 6 percent.

"When I was appointed as minister, the price of chicken eggs was Rp. 32,000 but it gradually fell to Rp. 26,000. Yesterday it was creeping again to Rp. 32,000 to Rp. 33,000 and now we have checked East Java, which is between Rp. 28,000, Rp. 29,000, Rp. 30,000 to Central Java. DKI is still Rp. 30,500 per kg. Sumatra to Lampung is an average of below Rp. 30,000," he said.

Meanwhile, in Kalimantan, the price of broiler eggs is priced at Rp. 30,000 per kg. Zulkifli admitted that the price of broiler eggs in several regions in Indonesia is still very high. However, he claims that there has been a downward trend in prices.

"Indeed, the still high ones are Papuan and Maluku, but the trend has dropped," he said.

Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly called, admitted that he had met business actors engaged in the broiler eggs sector to find out the cause of the soaring price of eggs.

Based on the confessions of entrepreneurs, said Zulhas, the price of eggs will soon fall within two weeks.

"But we have invited the perpetrators in this sector, they are not my word, what is very convincing to us is temporary, sir. It has been less than 2 weeks (down). Indeed, the normal price is Rp. 27,000-Rp. 29,000. So (the price) will range from Rp. 27,000- Rp. 29,000 because the capital is Rp. 24,000," he explained.
