A Total Of 65.5 Million MSMEs Recorded At BI Are Managed By Women

JAKARTA - The Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) who is also the General Chair of the Association of Indonesian Economic Scholars (ISEI) Perry Warjiyo encourages the capacity building of women's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

"If we promote women's MSMEs, we will also advance the role of women in economic development and create women's leaders in Indonesia," said Perry Warjiyo, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, August 24.

Perry added, around 64.3 percent of the 65.5 million MSMEs recorded at Bank Indonesia are managed by women, who can be empowered through the formation of clusters or groups.

"Women are used to working in groups, so assistance can be given to groups, as well as coaching and teaching can be given to groups, to then be given access to receive financial services," he said.

Capacity building and financial provision for women MSMEs is one of the agendas that will continue to be pushed by ISEI, in addition to continuing to support national economic stability and growth.

ISEI will also participate in developing digital transformation as Bank Indonesia has launched BI Fast Payment and QR Indonesian Standard (QRIS), which are currently present in three countries outside Indonesia.

"We have connected QRIS with three countries at this time, and next year it will be connected to five countries," he said.

Digital-based startups or start-ups are also expected to continue to be established locally in various regions in Indonesia by younger community groups to market products from these regions.

"Furthermore, ISEI also continues the creation of a green economy and how we strengthen ISEI organizations in the regions," said Perry Warjiyo.
