JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) Group, through its subsidiary PT Haleyora Power, collaborated with PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim, a sub-holding of PT Pelindo. This cooperation includes strengthening the electricity supply at Pelindo's ports and in line with the PLN program in Electrifying Marine.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Through this memorandum of understanding, the PLN Group will later strengthen the electricity supply at Pelindo Group's ports. It is hoped that a reliable electricity supply at the port can encourage the conversion of the use of fuel for ship operations to be electricity-based.

PLN Director of Human Resources Yusuf Didi Setiarto welcomed this cooperation plan. Especially in the field of Electrifying Marine, PLN encourages wider use of electricity, especially in ports.

Electrifying Marine is able to reduce dependence on fuel use. With the signing of this MoU, he is optimistic that it will strengthen the company's readiness to face increasingly competitive business challenges.

"This is a tangible form of the message from the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, that SOEs should build positive collaborations in order to optimize their respective resources. Therefore, this MoU is very important in order to maximize the business potential of PLN and Pelindo," said Didi in an official statement, Friday, August 12.

In addition to Haleyora Power, PLN Group through its subsidiary PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna (BAG) signed an MoU with Pelindo Jasa Maritim to maximize the coal supply chain at the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) owned by the PLN Group.

This synergy is expected to optimize the resources owned by each company. Namely from Bahtera Adhi Guna which is engaged in coal transportation to secure the supply of coal to the PLTU with Pelindo Jasa Maritim which is engaged in ship services, maintenance and provision of port equipment and port facility services.

Didi explained, with this memorandum of understanding, the three companies will work together to develop businesses in the dredging and tug assist fields. He sees this collaboration as important because the shipping business is an integrated business. So it requires collaboration between SOEs to maximize its potential.

“We will consolidate collective resources later, we will work together, and hopefully the business can be developed. Just make the infrastructure reliable. Don't let the consumers down," said Didi.

Didi sees this collaboration as an important first step. Furthermore, a cooperation team will be formed from each party. Where this team will map the service potential and coordinate with related parties.

Pelindo Investment Director Boy Robyanto welcomed the MoU with PLN and encouraged the establishment of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS). So that the efforts of both parties to improve the company's performance in the dredging and tug assist fields can be optimized immediately.

"I believe this MoU can be immediately upgraded to PKS. This cooperation needs to be continued primarily for optimizing the reduction of logistics costs. Especially for ports in Eastern Indonesia," said Boy.

He explained that Pelindo was focusing on preparing to support renewable energy. With a total of 110 ports, he hopes that this cooperation can optimize energy supply at ports.

PLN continues to collaborate with SOEs to build mutually beneficial cooperation. So that PLN is able to contribute to the government's efforts to develop the world of national shipping. Therefore, various efforts need to be harmonized starting from the financial sector, shipping industry and trade to support a reliable and competitive national shipping industry.
