JAKARTA - The construction of the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) continues.

KCJB itself is targeted to have undergone a dynamic test in November 2022, to coincide with the implementation of the G20 Presidency.

Today, Friday, August 5, the series of Electric Multiple Units (EMU) or trains for KCJB began to be sent from China to Indonesia.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the KCJB project is a form of Indonesia-China friendship which is always discussed in meetings of the two countries.

"Therefore, let's support this KCJB project so that it can run well and sustainably," said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, in Jakarta, Friday, August 5.

Budi explained that KCJB adopts high technology, namely Grade of Automation (GOA) Level 1, and has a slim design so that it can support the acceleration or speed of the train which can reach 350 km per hour.

Later, Budi continued, KCJB will serve as many as 68 trips per day and stop at five stations.

“The travel time from Jakarta to Bandung only takes 36-45 minutes. Previously it took approximately 2.5 hours to reach the destination,” he said.

The presence of KJCB as an environmentally friendly mass transportation, with a good level of safety and security as well as time efficiency, said Budi, is expected to further increase public interest in using public transportation rather than private vehicles.

"Therefore, I urge the speed of construction time and system integration to be accelerated, so that the benefits that have been waiting for the train users can immediately be felt," he said.

Previously reported, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) revealed that the KCJB ticket price will range from IDR 250.000 to IDR 350.000.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said ticket prices will depend on the class chosen. The service classes are divided into VIP Class with 18 customers, First Class with 28 customers, and Second Class with 555 customers.

"The tariffs that will be charged range from IDR 250.000 to IDR 350.000, but at this time, the tariffs are still being studied in various aspects," he said in a written statement quoted on Thursday, August 4.

Joni explained that a series of Jakarta-Bandung Fast Kerta consists of 8 trains with a capacity of 601 customers. Currently, the investment progress of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project has reached 85 percent.

"Meanwhile, his physical progress has reached 76 percent," said Joni.

Joni said, KCJB will operate on a 142.3 km double track that will stop at 4 stations, namely Halim Station (Jakarta), Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar (Bandung).
