Asking For Space For Domestic Products, Jokowi's Message To Sarinah: Don't Just Change The Physical Building, But Must Become An Icon Of The Nation

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo advised his staff not to only change the physical building of the Sarinah Building. But more than that, he asked that his commitments also be changed.

Through this statement, Jokowi wants Sarinah's mission to trade domestic products to continue.

This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in front of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Coordinating Minister for SMEs Teten Masduki, President Commissioner of PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia or InJourney Triawan Munaf and Managing Director Sarinah Ferry Kwartati at the inauguration of the Sarinah Building, Thursday, July 14.

"On this auspicious occasion, I would like to leave a message that it is not only the physical building which is truly beautiful, the interior is incredibly beautiful, but the spirit, strategy, commitment, way of working, all of which must be changed. always and become an icon of our nation," said Jokowi.

Jokowi hopes that Sarinah will have a multiplayer effect on cultural arts craftsmen in the country. Especially, entrepreneurs of domestic products that have very good quality.

"We saw earlier, shoes whose quality is very good, the price is also very expensive. It's okay, the quality is indeed good, the price must be expensive," he said.

Meanwhile, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said that after the massive renovation and opening to the public since last March, the total visitors to the Sarinah Building reached 5 million people. While the level of visits per day reached 40,000 people. This shows that Sarinah is the center of destination in Jakarta.

"I can report, thank God, the total visitors after being opened for 4 months totaled 5 million visitors, from all over Indonesia, Mr. And this is approximately 40,000 visitors per day who attend Sarinah. Therefore, Sarinah has become one of the most popular destination centers. targeted now in Jakarta," said Erick.

Erick said that the new Sarinah was a testament to the hard work of various parties. One of them is the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which grants renovation and repair permits as well as the construction of parking facilities.

"This is something that is certainly our belief, if we want to work together to give seriously, not half-assed and in detail, this can happen," he said.
