JAKARTA - Sharon, a PLN customer who went viral because he was accused and fined Rp. 68 million, can now breathe a sigh of relief.

The reason is, the fine of Rp. 68 million that was imposed on him for allegedly using a fake electricity meter seal has now been cancelled.

"It's a relief because it turns out that the electricity in the house is still within the limits of PLN," said Sharon to reporters, Wednesday, June 22.

Sharo appreciated the steps taken by PLN for working professionally, openly and prioritizing customer safety.

"Honestly, this is a valuable experience for me and my family because of our ignorance as customers, but PLN is now very open, we as customers are more active, just ask and find out. Suggestions for PLN are more intensive for socialization," said Sharon.

Senior Manager of Communications and General Affairs at the Main Distribution Unit for Greater Jakarta, Kemas Abdul Gaffur, said the abolition of the fine was decided after officers checked that the electricity flowing to Sharon's house was still within the limits of the kilowatt-hour (kWh) meter measurement.

"The customer on behalf of Mrs. Sharon uses electricity that is still in accordance with the power installed in her house, the current measurement results are also good," said Kemas.

Kemas appealed to customers not to be afraid if PLN officers came to check the kWh meter.

"Actually, the officers are securing from the potential fire hazard if there is an excessive electric current entering the house," he said.

In addition, he said, inspections were carried out by PLN officers to ensure the accuracy of the measurements and the kWh meter was still functioning properly.

"In order to maintain customer safety, PLN controls the use of electricity by checking the kWh meter. The inspection is intended so that the electricity flowing to the house is measured with certainty to avoid excess electricity which could potentially cause a fire," he said.
