PLN Disburses IDR 11.7 Billion To Improve Electricity Reliability In East Java

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has increased the reliability of the electricity system in East Java, especially in the Surabaya and Sidoarjo areas by adding two conductors to the Sidoarjo Substation (GI) with an investment of Rp. 11.7 billion.

In addition to strengthening the electricity system, the construction of this electricity infrastructure will also support the operation of the Sidoarjo Industrial Estate (KIS). Currently, the supply of PLN to KIS is approximately 10 MW.

General Manager of the East Java & Bali Transmission Main Unit (UIT JBM), Didik F. Dakhlan explained that the Sidoarjo GI which supplies electricity to the Sidoarjo, Porong and Surabaya areas can transmit power of 83 megawatts (MW) through the High Voltage Air Line (SUTT). 150 kV.

The construction of this conductor will be used as a backup in case of disturbances in Porong or Sidoarjo.

"The presence of this new conductor has an impact on the reliability of the system for sure. So that PLN can minimize blackouts to customers from the SUTT network," he said. in an official statement, Tuesday, June 21.

The project work has been ongoing since Tuesday, June 7 and is expected to operate (energize) at the end of June.

The addition of this conductor aims to reduce the load on the Waru GI, considering that this GI will later be developed into a 500 kV Extra High Voltage Gas Insulated Substation (GISTET).

Didik said, with the construction of a conductor at the Sidoarjo GI, it will unite distribution from the generators in Gresik and Grati.

"We will continue to strive to improve the reliability of the electricity system in East Java and its surroundings. The addition of IBT (Interbus Transformer) in Krian will also be completed this month," he concluded.
