JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, stated that Indonesia, China, and India will be part of the rise of Asia.

"I believe in various unstoppable trends such as digitalization, environmental sustainability, and global health architecture. But another unstoppable trend is the rise of Asia", he said at the 2022 Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Global Conference in Bali, quoted from Antara, Tuesday 21 June.

Through the 2022 AVPN conference, Sandiaga believes that various problems faced by the world such as those regarding blended finance, sustainability, and finance can be solved.

The government is said to need to collaborate through a public-private partnership scheme and other stakeholders such as academia, business, communities, and the media to solve various global challenges.

"I believe that through collaboration, we can use some of the opportunities that have been created by philanthropic networks to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and transition from pandemic to endemic", he said.

During the last two years during the pandemic, he continued, all sectors suffered a setback, causing millions of workers to lose their jobs. One of them is in Bali because many hotels are not operating.

"The hotel we are currently in (The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali), during the pandemic had zero occupancy (zero occupancy). Today, we have recovered and you are part of the history of the recovery of Indonesia's tourism and creative economy with 34 million workers working depend on this sector which will be of higher quality and sustainable", said Sandiaga.

The recovery of the Indonesian tourism sector is evidenced by the increase in the ranking of the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (Indeks Daya Saing Pariwisata) in 2021 from the 44th position to the top 32.

"This is because we focus on prioritizing quality over quantity, sustainability, nature and culture, community-based tourism, tourist villages, and contributing to reducing (economic) inequality", said Sandiaga Uno.
