JAKARTA - Commission VI of the House of Representatives approved the proposed increase in the work budget for the Ministry of Investment to Rp1.89 for 2023. Previously, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia confided that the burden borne by his ministry had increased but the budget was cut by 50 percent.

With this addition, the indicative ceiling of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM in 2023 will be IDR 1.89 trillion. That figure is up 45.83 percent from 2022 which was Rp. 1.3 trillion.

"Where else would we complain if not to the Investment Ministry's partner, Commission VI of the DPR," he said.

The total budget consists of an indicative ceiling of Rp646.02 billion and a proposed additional budget of Rp1.24 trillion to support priority programs in order to achieve the investment target of Rp1,250-Rp1,400 trillion in 2023.

The indicative ceiling of the Ministry of Investment in 2023 is IDR 646.02 billion. The details are Rp314.3 billion for management support programs, and Rp331.7 billion for investment.

"Commission VI of the DPR RI has approved the indicative ceiling and proposed additional budget for the Ministry of Investment in 2023," said Meeting Chair Martin Manurung, Friday, June 10.

Previously, the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia asked his ministry's work budget to be increased to Rp1.89 trillion for 2023. According to Bahlil, this additional budget is important to achieve the investment target of Rp.1,400 trillion.

"We proposed an additional budget of Rp1.24 trillion, bringing the total to Rp1.89 trillion. We do this in order to achieve the investment target of Rp1,250 to Rp1,400 trillion," he said in a Working Meeting with Commission VI DPR, Friday, 10 June.

On that occasion, Bahlil confided that the 2023 indicative ceiling of Rp646.02 billion was not balanced with the investment target borne by the Ministry of Investment. Therefore, he proposed an additional budget for next year.

"This is what makes us dizzy too, our burdens were told to increase. But our costs were cut down by 50 percent. So our costs, yes, I don't know which other theory to use," he said.
