PLN Calms Us, Their IDR 227.75 Billion Spending Will Secure Electricity At G20 Bali

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) invested IDR 227.75 billion in the network procurement, expansion, and maintenance program in Bali to ensure that the G20 peak series of events will be held without any power outages.

Senior Manager Distribution of PLN Bali Main Distribution Unit (UID) Made Suamba said the investment funds were used to finance 43 programs that have been running since last year and are targeted for completion in August 2022.

"From the investment value disbursed, there are 43 action programs to improve the reliability of distribution and electricity networks. PLN targets the entire action plan to be completed in August 2022, where the progress of work until May 2022 is recorded at 68.71 percent," said Made Suamba in a statement he wrote, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 2.

Of the 43 programs, some of them are rehabilitation, network strengthening, network expansion, procurement of uninterruptible power supply (UPS), cable arrangement, and other supporting work.

"In the cable work that we are carrying out, currently 26 of the 28 locations have been completed. There are only two more locations that require further communication with relevant stakeholders so that they can be completed by the end of this month," he said.

PLN UID Bali is also optimistic that all targets will be completed on time, because many parties are involved in helping accelerate the completion of the work.

Bali will be the location for the G20 Summit which is scheduled to take place around October-November 2022. However, the G20 Summit series has been taking place since December 2021.

To support this implementation, PLN also plans to use a solar power plant (PLTS) installed on the roofs of 35 PLN UID Bali office buildings and one PT Indonesia Power office building in August 2022.

The use of PLTS, which is new and renewable energy (EBT), is a form of the company's support for Indonesia's leadership in the G20. Indonesia, which currently serves as chairman of the forum and host of the G20, raised the transition to clean energy as a priority issue.

"The installation of this rooftop PLTS will be a showcase during the G20 presidency, which will also show PLN's role in overseeing the transition to sustainable green energy," said General Manager of PLN UID Bali I Wayan Udayana as quoted in a written statement this month.

The PLTS installed on the roofs of 36 buildings is capable of generating power up to 489.72 kilowatt peak (kwp).
