ACEH - The Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers Association (Apkasindo) Aceh said that after the government allowed the export of crude palm oil (CPO) to return, the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) of palm oil rose significantly to reach Rp. 2,400 per kilogram (Kg).

"The price in the north east region of Aceh is the highest at IDR 2,400 per kilogram, like in North Aceh," said General Secretary of DPW Apkasindo Aceh Fadhli Ali in Banda Aceh, Saturday.

Fadhli said, in general in the north-east of Aceh, the price range for palm FFB is above Rp. 2,000 per kilogram, the cheapest is Rp. 2,100 per kilogram at the palm oil mill (PKS) level.

However, he said, not all regencies/cities in Indonesia's westernmost province have FFB prices above Rp. 2,000 per kilogram. Like areas in the south west region of Aceh, the price of palm FFB is generally still below Rp. 2,000 per kilogram.

“Like in South Aceh, the price of FFB palm oil is Rp. 1,900 per kilogram, in Nagan Raya it is also below Rp. 2,000 per kilogram. Only Aceh Singkil and Subulussalam are above Rp. 2,000 per kilogram, the highest is Rp. 2,100 per kilogram," said Fadhli.

According to him, the price of palm FFB in Aceh has improved compared to when the CPO and cooking oil export ban policy was enforced some time ago.

He said the price of FFB had dropped to Rp. 1,000 per kilogram during the export ban, but now the price of palm FFB is slowly rising as the export of cooking oil and CPO is reopened.

"We will see next week that the trend of FFB price development will continue to increase. Indeed, this price should have gone up because the faucet for CPO exports has been reopened," he said.

In fact, he added, several other provincial governments in Sumatra have set the FFB price above Rp. 3,000 per kilogram, with the hope that Aceh will follow suit.

“CPO prices will continue to have an upward trend. Therefore, we hope that the PKS will buy FFB owned by farmers at a better price," he said.
