Manggarai Station Serves Long-distance Trains, Gambir Is Functioned For Riding And Dropping KRL Passengers

JAKARTA - Gambir Station has stopped serving long-distance trains. This plan follows improvements at Manggarai Station which will become the central station.

This means that large-scale transit and operations of all types of trains will be centered at Manggarai Station.

In addition, Manggarai Station will become a service center for mode integration, both intermodal and intermodal.

The Head of the Jakarta and Banten Regional Railway Engineering Center for the Ministry of Transportation, Rode Paulus, said that there was a possibility that Gambir Station would serve electric rail trains (KRL).

Rode explained, the goal is to reduce passenger density.

"The design of the Manggarai Station with all the facilities there, it is indeed designed that long-distance trains stop only at Manggarai Station," he said, quoted on Friday, May 27.

With this scenario, said Rode, it is hoped that the accumulation of passengers at Sudirman Station will decrease.

"So Gambir will later be used to get on and off KRL passengers. So that the burden on Sudirman and so on can be reduced and everyone can go directly to the city center in Gambir," he said.

For your information, Gambir Station is currently only devoted to serving long-distance trains. So that KRL only passes without making stops to get on and off passengers.

As previously reported, the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) continues to be committed to completing the construction of the Manggarai Station according to the set schedule.

To support this target, the 5th switch over (SO) activity will be carried out at Manggarai Station.

The switch over activity at Manggarai Station will be carried out on Friday, May 27 evening until Saturday, May 28 in the morning.

Head of the Jakarta and Banten Regional Railway Engineering Center, Rode Paulus, said that this 5th switch over activity needs to be carried out to organize and condition the railway line at Manggarai Station, so that construction can continue.

"We will take advantage of the window time or the pause between the operating hours of the train which starts after the last train has finished operating and before the first train starts the next day's journey to work on SO 5," he said in an official statement quoted on Tuesday, May 23.

Furthermore, Rode explained that this was done so that train travel including the Commuterline KRL would not be disrupted.

Rode said the SO 5 activity was carried out by activating a temporary track for line 1 and line 2, at the same time closing line 3, changing the signaling system, and installing and replacing the overhead power network (JLAA) to adjust to lane changes.

"There will be a total of 8 work points during SO 5 and will connect the temporary line 1 and line 3 with the existing one and close line 3. So that civil structural work on the east side of the Manggarai Station building can be started so that the target for building operation in 2023 can be done. realized," he said.

Thus, said Rode, after SO 5 activities are carried out, there will be an adjustment of the line at Manggarai Station which is used to serve train passengers. After SO 5 later, line 1 and line 2 of Manggarai Station will only serve long-distance trains, and line 3 will be deactivated.

Meanwhile, Rode continued, the Commuterline KRL crossing the Bekasi/Cikarang Line will be served on line 6 and line 7 at Manggarai Station. The Bogor Line will be served on Line 10, Line 11, Line 12, and Line 13.
