JAKARTA - Cooking oil stock in South Sumatra is claimed to be fulfilled every month. This was after the addition of the distribution quota which had doubled.

Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Trade Office, Ahmad Rizali, said the quota for bulk cooking oil was increased from 7,300 tons per month to 14,600 tons per month. He said this addition was made based on instructions from the central government.

"We have carried out according to the instructions of the central government. The condition is that bulk cooking oil consumption currently reaches 40 percent," he said, as reported by Antara, Saturday, May 14.

According to Ahmad, there are three producers who have been assigned to fulfill the quota. They are PT Tunas Baru Lampung with 3,200 tons, PT Indokarya Internusa (II) with 3,400 tons, and PT Sinar Alam Permai with 8,000 tons.

The producers have started distributing bulk cooking oil with the realization of Tunas Baru 6.04 percent, Indokarya 5.97 percent, and Sinar Alam 3.71 percent since Monday (9/5/2022) to every district/city.

Ahmad claimed that the bulk cooking oil quota was sufficient for the people in South Sumatra. Based on data from Simirah's information system, the demand reaches 7,247 tons per month.

"We hope that this May 80 percent can be distributed, it has exceeded the needs of the people of South Sumatra," he said.

However, he continued, what needs to be done now is to ensure the distribution of cooking oil to the community because there are still a shortage of sub-distributors and retailers in districts/cities.

"This was conveyed in a meeting on Thursday (May 12) which was held with the district/city trade trade offices, regional police, regional police, producers, licensing agencies and distributors in order to also optimize the distribution of bulk cooking oil for this assignment," he said.
