Stimulating Credit Performance, Bank Mandiri Aims For 201 Government Strategic Projects In The Infrastructure Sector

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) continues to focus on channeling financing to the sustainable sector and infrastructure, in order to boost credit performance this year. Especially the projects initiated by the government.

Corporate Secretary Rudi Asaturridha said this strategy also supports government policies in accelerating development in Indonesia. "Currently there are at least 201 projects and 10 programs in the National Strategic Project," he said in an official statement on Wednesday, May 11.

According to Rudi, the company has a good track record in infrastructure financing. This is reflected in lending to the wholesale segment which was able to record growth of 7 percent year on year (yoy) to Rp 549.8 trillion at the end of March 2022.

When detailed, the distribution of wholesale loans to state-owned banks is supported by several leading sectors, such as government projects which recorded growth of 19 percent as of March 2022 on an annual basis.

In addition, Rudi claimed that the food and beverage sector as well as energy and water also grew by 18 percent and 14 percent yoy, respectively. "Bank Mandiri's support for economic equality in our country is realized through financing for infrastructure projects," he said.

Meanwhile, until March 2022, Bank Mandiri managed to disburse loans to the infrastructure sector amounting to Rp226.8 trillion. This figure rose 2.93 percent when compared to the same period the previous year.

"The financing is channeled into development projects, most of which are initiated by the government, including the construction, roads, oil and gas, renewable energy, transportation sectors, including for the construction of toll roads, airports, seaports and railroads that have been utilized by the community during the joint leave period. Eid yesterday," he explained.

"Seeing this positive achievement, Bank Mandiri is optimistic that the credit growth target throughout 2022 can be realized, of course, while still prioritizing the precautionary principle," concluded Rudi.
