Erick Thohir: I Urge The General Public To Support MSMEs With Disabilities

SOE Minister Erick Thohir and the BUMN Foundation for Indonesia provided assistance in the form of production equipment for MSME actors managed by people with disabilities in East Java

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir appealed to the general public to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with disabilities by buying the products they produce.

"The SOE Foundation for Indonesia has helped, now it's the turn of the community to take part. I appeal to the general public to support MSME actors with disabilities by buying the products they produce," said Erick Thohir in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday, May 7.

By buying products, continued Erick Thohir, MSME actors with disabilities will be increasingly motivated to continue developing their products.

Efforts to generate economic growth in Indonesia must involve all sectors, especially the MSME sector. Therefore, the MSME sector which controls 97 percent of the share of national economic power must continue to develop with its market power and not only become an object of growth.

Related to this, the BUMN Foundation for Indonesia showed concern by providing assistance in the form of production equipment for MSME actors managed by people with disabilities in East Java.

The handover of aid which took place at the Harmoni Building, Pasuruan, East Java was witnessed by the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, Pasuruan Mayor Saifullah Yusuf or familiarly called Gus Ipul and Pasuruan Regent H Irsyad Yusuf/Gus Irsyad.

On the occasion, Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir expressed his appreciation for the concern of the BUMN Foundation for Indonesia towards MSMEs with disabilities so that they jointly take a role in national economic growth. and equal opportunity.

Especially after the current pandemic, all MSME actors are affected by the decline in people's purchasing power.

"We hope that assistance in the form of production equipment needed to improve quality and productivity aspects, so as to increase product competitiveness in the market, can restore their enthusiasm and fighting power to rise," said Syafuan.

In addition to funding assistance to purchase production equipment, which was handed over to Muhammad Mabrur, one of the representatives of Disability MSMEs, the BUMN Foundation for Indonesia also provided scholarship assistance and educational support facilities to Sandiani Sri Wahyuni, a member of the IPPNU (Nahdlatul Ulama Women's Student Association).

In an effort to raise MSMEs with disabilities, the backbone of the national economy does not only need funding to buy production equipment or capital so that they can grow. Support in the form of training to digital marketing as well as for MSME actors from the disabled. In this era of digital technology, it will be easier for disabled MSME activists to run a business as long as they master technology.
