Minister Of Industry Senewen 78 Tons Of Subsidized Cooking Oil Misappropriated: This Public Funds Must Be Responsible

JAKARTA – The actions of naughty people who abuse subsidized cooking oil are repeated. This time, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita together with the police managed to arrest two large distributors in Cipete, South Jakarta who were caught embezzling 78 tons of subsidized bulk cooking oil.

In his statement, the Minister of Industry said that the deviations made by the distributors made the Highest Retail Price (HET) target of Rp. 14,000/liter or Rp. 15,500/kilogram not achieved.

"Compliance is very important, because this is the government's effort for the community and MSMEs to get subsidized bulk cooking oil, there are public funds that must be accounted for, so we want this program to run well," he said quoted Friday, April 15.

According to the Minister of Industry, every element and line in the program for providing subsidized bulk cooking oil has an awareness that the program aims to serve people who are in trouble.

"Don't take the opportunity in the midst of society's difficulties," he said.

Furthermore, the Minister of Industry assessed that the challenges of implementing the subsidized bulk cooking oil supply program were complex and varied.

“At every stage there must be challenges, both for producers, distributors, and retailers. That's all we try to unravel one by one and find a solution quickly. What we find is one example of the challenges that exist in the distributor line," he explained.
