JAKARTA - A takjil food trader for breaking the fast in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province complained about the increase in the price of cooking oil and sugar as raw materials for making takjil cakes during Ramadan 2022.

"The price of cakes and food for breaking the fast has increased when compared to 2021," said Wati, a takjil trader on Oerip Soemohardjo Street, Kupang City, quoted from Antara, Monday, April 4.

He explained that the increase in cooking oil prices triggered an increase in the price of food and cakes for breaking the fast, such as cakes that were previously sold at a price of four IDR 5,000 to three IDR 5,000.

According to him, cooking oil measuring 2 liters in the market is sold at a price of IDR 28,000 to IDR 30,000, now it is IDR 50,000.

"So the price of cake snacks to go up," he said. Meanwhile, Kupang local brown sugar or plate sugar was previously sold in the market at a price of IDR 25,000/kg to IDR 40,000/kg.

"Goods go up, the price of cake snacks goes up, if it's not like that, then you can't make a profit even if the profit is very small," said Wati.

Meanwhile, Aisah, a takjil seller on the Timor Raya road, said that the price of takjil sold during Ramadan has increased.

"The price increase is due to the price of cooking oil and granulated sugar in the market. Fast food which was previously sold for IDR 15,000 to IDR 20,000 is now sold at IDR 25,000/portion," said Aisah.

Even though there was an increase in prices, the residents of Kupang City still bought various kinds of food and cakes to break their fast.
