JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto is said to have just completed a working visit to the Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL) Group Investment Project in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau.

During his visit, Airlangga expressed his appreciation to APRIL Group for its real efforts in supporting sustainable forest management which is considered capable of being a solution to manage the availability of resources without reducing the productivity of industrial performance.

"This is in line with the government's commitment to implementing the green economy concept as part of sustainable development," he said in an official statement quoted on Wednesday, March 30.

According to Airlangga, the green economy is a concept that emphasizes the integration of the economy and the environment. In detail, the target of this approach is to achieve economic growth, sustainable use of natural resources, and the creation of an escalation of community welfare.

"This is a tangible manifestation of the implementation of a green economy and sustainable forest management as a whole," he said.

On this occasion, Airlangga also took the time to directly inspect the eucalyptus and acacia tree nursery owned by conglomerate Sukanto Tanoto, who is also listed as the founder of APRIL Group.
