SKK Migas Targets To Drill 42 New Wells During 2022

JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) targets as many as 790 development wells and 42 exploration wells to be drilled by 2022.

For this reason, the Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto, said that commitment from all stakeholders, both the government and investors, is needed to ensure that drilling is the main activity in increasing oil and gas production can be realized according to the scheduled target.

"To stay on track towards the target of 1 million BOPD (barrels of oil per day) in 2030, our current oil production position must be at 670 thousand BOPD and it is hoped that next year it will rise again. SKK Migas noted that as of March 21, 2022, the realization of the number of development wells that had been drilled was 138 wells, or 17 percent of the target.

"I would like to attract the attention of ladies and gentlemen, to examine the current problems, because in 2013-2014 the upstream oil and gas sector was able to realize more than 1,000 wells", continued Dwi.

The Head of SKK Migas also hopes that the drilling industry players in the upstream oil and gas sector can respond to the current high oil and gas prices with massive and aggressive steps so that they can achieve the drilling target.

Dwi also conveyed that one of the successful efforts made by SKK Migas to oversee the 2022 drilling target was to encourage the realization of the Final Investment Decision (FID) commitments of Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS), whereas many as 41 percent of the problems with drilling delays last year were caused by this problem.

"Entering 2022, I no longer hear of any drilling delays caused by the KKKS FID, we really appreciate this", said Dwi.
