JAKARTA - The government's program related to the availability and supply of bulk-based palm cooking oil (MGS) for the community and MSMEs, immediately received a response from cooking oil producers. One of them is PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk or PT SMART Tbk.

The producer of Filma and Kunci Mas cooking oil, owned by the conglomerate Eka Tjipta Widjaja, is one of the companies committed to meeting the needs of MGS. In fact, SMART has registered its company with the Ministry of Industry through the National Industrial Information System (SIINAS) and started the distribution of MGS to several regions.

GM Marunda Refinery SMART Agus Widjaja explained, currently cooking oil production operations are running smoothly with maximum capacity. "Last Saturday, we distributed 500 tons of bulk cooking oil to shops and markets in East Java and West Java," Agus said in a statement quoted on Wednesday, March 23.

Agus also emphasized that SMART will continue to produce and coordinate further to be able to distribute this bulk cooking oil to various other areas.

On the other hand, the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said that 47 companies had registered. Of these, 39 companies have received their registration numbers.

The Minister of Industry said that of the 39 companies that have been given registration numbers, it is hoped that they can supply around 9,000 tons to the retail level market per day. "So, we can see based on our calculations around 8,000 tons per day. God willing, these 39 companies will be able to meet national needs, even though there will be an increase in demand for Ramadan and Eid to 11,000-12,000 tons per day," he explained.

According to the Minister of Industry, as many as 81 MGS industries that are members of the association have registered through SIINas. “So only companies that are not registered with the association. Now we are in constant contact, so they can participate in this program,” he said.

The Industry-Based MGS Policy is stipulated through the Minister of Industry Regulation (Permenperin) No. 8 of 2022 concerning the Provision of Bulk Cooking Oil for the Needs of the Community, Micro Enterprises, and Small Businesses in the Financing Framework by the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS).

"The Minister of Industry itself has been running effectively, and all business processes from registration to determination of allocations and working areas, as well as monitoring and supervision, are carried out using digital, so that good governance can be accounted for, not through a face to face mechanism," said Agus.
