Exploring Sri Mulyani's Important Role In The 2022 Mandalika MotoGP

JAKARTA – The MotoGP racing event at the Mandalika International Circuit Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara was held thanks to the cooperation of various parties and the support of the central government. In this event, the figure of the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani turned out to have a significant role.

Without his approval, it is certain that trillions of rupiah of state money will not flow. This is also what the Minister of Finance is trying to explain through his personal Instagram account @smindrawati.

"This weekend, the Mandalika Lombok Circuit is holding the second MotoGP 2022 series. MotoGP fans are definitely looking forward to this moment. #Uangkita has also contributed to supporting this grand event, including through PMN (state capital participation) and support to relevant ministries and institutions, VAT incentives (value added tax) and incentives for import duties and import taxes," he said, quoted on Sunday, March 20.

In his explanation, the Minister of Finance said that the government disbursed PMN of Rp 1.3 trillion to the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) PT Indonesia Tourism Development or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as initial capital for the construction of the circuit.

Then, he also gave his approval for the provision of Rp1.18 trillion from the APBN budget to relevant ministries and institutions to support the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP.

Not only that, the government also took the initiative to carry out fiscal spending through the provision of a number of tax incentives. First, the VAT facility for taxable services amounting to Rp240.73 billion. Second, the incentive for exemption from import duty and import tax is not less than Rp. 10.41 billion.

"All the support is given for the smooth running of this long-awaited event," he said.

For these various steps, the Minister of Finance is targeting long-term achievements: the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP is not just a motorcycle racing event but can provide a multiplier effect for Indonesia.

“Thanks to the holding of this event, the economic activities of the local residents have also developed. Even the racers joined to enliven the event by using typical Indonesian attributes, such as caping hats. They also shared fun moments with Lombok SMEs during the preparation of the event," he said.

For this reason, he hopes that the first event since 25 years can really accelerate the national economic recovery as well as become a sweet gift for speed racing lovers in the country.

"Hopefully this euphoria can have a positive impact on the people of Lombok and the world getting to know Indonesia better. Welcome to the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.
