JAKARTA - PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) or INTI continues to boost sales of automatic traffic counter systems. The goal is that it can be implemented in the upcoming Lebaran homecoming season.
President Director of PT INTI (Persero) Otong Iip said the system device entitled Automatic Traffic Counter or PLATO has the ability to calculate vehicle volume and speed or traffic counting automatically with a system of reading and calculating road capacity for five categories of vehicles.
"The automatic traffic count carried out by PLATO is a breakthrough in the transportation sector. This system device has proven its reliability during the Lebaran homecoming season in recent years," he said in an official statement, quoted Friday, March 11.
Otong explained that the PLATO device is the result of a system improvement from the technology used in the Traffic Early Information System (Sindila), which is one of PT INTI (Persero)'s innovations in traffic management.
"The PLATO system device, which has the ability to detect volume and vehicle speed sensors for up to five vehicle classifications, uses Video Imaging Processing technology as a vehicle detection medium," he said.
Furthermore, Otong explained that the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology developed at PLATO has been adapted to the characteristics of the driver and the classification of the vehicle according to the manual procedures used in Indonesia.
This PLATO is also equipped with a calibration or tunning feature that adjusts the direction of the sensor so that the ideal viewing range is obtained, creates virtual loops or areas that will be calculated by PLATO, adjusts the type of vehicle by vehicle class, and analyzes video samples for the tunning process every month.
Armed with the complete technology applied to the PLATO system, PT INTI (Persero) cooperates with its subsidiary, PT INTI Content Indonesia (INTENS), to expand the implementation of PLATO to various regions and institutions.
"PT INTI (Persero) has implemented this device in six areas of the West Bandung Regency Transportation Service, namely Ciburuy, Cikamuning, Gunung Putri, Beatrix Lembang, Cipatik, and Cimareme," he explained.
Otong explained that the PLATO has been tested in terms of the function of calculating five vehicle categories, dashboard management center, displaying road conditions, displaying directions or lanes, and displaying the average speed of vehicles.
The hope, continued Otong, is that PT INTI (Persero) believes in being able to become a partner of various institutions in carrying out traffic management, road network engineering planning, road capacity analysis, and others. Moreover, this PLATO innovation is the result of the production of PT INTI (Persero) with a high level of domestic content (TKDN).
"The target is that the scope of the use of PLATO will expand to agencies in various other regions this year," he said.
