JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) held a cooking oil market operation of 22,000 liters at the Alang-Alang Lebar Terminal Market, Palembang City, South Sumatra on Saturday.

Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade Didid Noordiatmoko said this step is a strategy to maintain supply availability and stability of cooking oil prices in the country.

"This market operation is expected to accelerate the distribution flow and reduce the price of cooking oil in the community," he said in an official statement quoted on Sunday, March 6.

According to Didid, the government will continue to strive to ensure prices in each segment are guaranteed and the supply is available.

"If this happens, people will easily get cooking oil at affordable prices," he said.

Furthermore, the subordinate of the Minister of Trade M. Lutfi revealed that his party continues to coordinate and cooperate with all relevant parties in ensuring the availability of supplies in the market.

For information, in this market operation, the Ministry of Trade sells cheap cooking oil at a price of between Rp. 11,500 to Rp. 13,500 for every one liter. Meanwhile, direct sales are made to the final consumer community.

"We urge the public to help maintain supply and price stability by remaining calm and not panic buying," concluded Didid.
