JAKARTA – There are fresh ideas flowing from the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani. In the first weekend of March 2022, the state treasurer tried to tell the story of a young man who succeeded in achieving success through an unusual profession: being a farmer.

Generally, these jobs become quite 'taboo' for young people because most of them choose to work in the formal sector.

The Minister of Finance said that the inspirational figure was Novi, who previously worked in a completely different field.

“Novi is a singer who has turned into a young farmer. Novi is happily living her life choice," he said via his personal Instagram account @smindrawati on Sunday, March 6.

Menkeu mentioned that Novi and her new profession have become citizens who obey their obligations. One of the evidences is participation in supporting state revenue.

“Novi is also a loyal tax payer. Thank you to Novi and the taxpayers who have fulfilled their tax obligations so that the government can provide various facilities ranging from subsidies to infrastructure built using rupiah for rupiah #uangkita from tax contributions," he said.

The former boss of the IMF and the World Bank then tried to remind taxpayers (WP) to fulfill the same obligations by reporting their Annual Tax Returns (SPT).

In an upload on Instagram, the Minister of Finance shared a video clip of how Novi started an agricultural business in Boyolali, Central Java. Novi said, she was quite helped by various government programs in this sector, such as financial facilities, fertilizer subsidies, to other adequate infrastructure facilities.

Novi herself realized that the various aids she received could not be separated from the role of the state apparatus in collecting tax revenues for later use by the community.
