JP Morgan Until Bank Of America Becomes The Target Of A Russian Hacker's Counterattack

NEW YORK - A network of hackers from around the world has in recent times launched a series of cyberattacks against Russian public facilities. As reported by The Guardian, on Tuesday, March 1, the group that calls itself Anonymous has claimed responsibility for several cyber incidents that occurred, including the hacking of a database belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

As if embarrassed that their country continues to be attacked, now several hackers from the Red Bear Country are allegedly starting to counterattack by targeting banks in the United States (US). Based on a New York Post report, Friday, March 4, it was stated that large banks such as JP Morgan, Citigroup, Bank of America to Goldman Sachs began to be bombarded by cyber attacks.

According to the report, internal sources from the executive ranks of these banks complained that a number of data and customer information had been compromised by hackers. Although a budget of up to billions of US dollars has been spent every year to build protection, but the massive attack that was launched this time made the confidential data belonging to the bank finally managed to be hacked.

It was explained that the characteristics of the attacks carried out by Russian hackers tended to be different from the types of attacks carried out by the Anonymous group. The pattern of attacks by Russian hackers is said to tend to be 'subtle', but carried out intensively and effectively so that it can damage the banking technology infrastructure that is being targeted.

However, according to the same source, it was also explained that the impact of the wave of attacks could still be well controlled by the relevant banking IT team, so it was claimed that it would not cause further systemic chaos.

Regarding the attack, the Russian government denied having ties to the hacker group. However, US intelligence officials firmly believe that the 'underground' movement has the tacit support of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
