JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said the implementation of the G20 Summit Ministerial Meeting in Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, on 7-9 September 2022 must have an impact on the community's economy.

"We want the public to directly feel the impact of the implementation of the G20 Summit later," he said after visiting the Nam Salu Open Pit Geosite in Kelapa Kampit, East Belitung, Saturday.

According to him, in the last two years tourism conditions in the country have been depressed or have contracted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Many people have lost their jobs and their incomes have decreased," he said.

He said, therefore, the implementation of the G20 Summit Ministerial Meeting is expected to be a momentum for economic and tourism revival for the region.

"Therefore, the economic revival triggered by the implementation of the G20 Summit should be felt fairly by the community," he said.

Sandiaga said that the preparations that had to be made by Belitung Regency, which was trusted to host the G20 Summit ministerial meeting, were not limited to physical infrastructure alone.

"But also the preparation of Human Resources (HR) and creative economy products," he said.

He believes that the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands is ready to host the G20 Ministerial Summit on 7-9 September.

"Belitung is very ready, because previously a number of international-scale events have been held here in Sungailiat Bangka and Belitung," Sandiaga Uno said.
